These cupcakes were fun to make. The cake was a basic chocolate cupcake. But I made two flavors of buttercream icing! The red buttercream frosting was made with a regular 4 ounce package of raspberry jello, dissolved in hot water. The white buttercream had melted white chocolate in it. I used a new frosting tip called as Russian Piping Nozzle, and garnished the cupcakes with candy sprinkles and white chocolate flakes to resemble flowers. The person whose birthday it was, was super delighted!
Check out the giant butterfly and the small brown, tan, and red bird in the upper right quadrant of this other picture. Desert biome at the Botanical Gardens downtown.
My phalenopsis made a lovely display of blooms this spring. There were two stems of flowers, and they lasted for about a month. The plant is still going strong, and them stem didn't die back after flowering! There is a small chance I will be able to use keiki paste with any results.
I re-did my cactus dish. The living stones have been holding up quite well, which is a relief because Lowes is not carrying them this year. The trick is not to over-water. Which my current schedule that is fantastic news!!
