Orchid expo
Truly the best event of the season is the orchid expo. This year I was fortunate to be invited to the donor's preview event, which is the weekend beofore the exhibit oficially opens. There were orchid cocktails, a cheese tray, and panna cotta. Everyone was on their best behavior which made the event extra nice. I got to see behind the scenes in the working green house, and we each got to take home on orchid for free.

Orchid
My phalenopsis made a lovely display of blooms this spring. There were two stems of flowers, and they lasted for about a month. The plant is still going strong, and them stem didn't die back after flowering! There is a small chance I will be able to use keiki paste with any results.

Maybe
In the very center of the picture you can see a V shaped leafy bit. I think it might be a blossom. The texture is different from the broad floppy leaves. They are more compact and upside down or unopened shaped. I will be keeping a close watch. I know what I want for Christmas!!!!

(Phoenix)Phal Update
As you can see, my damaged phal developed a keiki (clone) right off the main base after the crown was damaged (genetic defect?) with abnormal leaves. The keiki is developing nicely. Eventually the old leaves will get yellow and drop off, but aside from the ugliness, it is doing very well.
